McLAREN P1 GTR

Overview

OVERVIEW

McLaren never intended to build the McLaren P1 GTR. But when deliveries began of the P1, its first recipients called for an even more extreme version dedicated to the track. Our engineers rose to the challenge. Without road-car regulations to hold it back, the McLaren P1 GTR became a limitless performance powerhouse.

Available only to P1 owners, production of the GTR began upon completion of the 375th and final P1 road car. All P1 GTR owners had automatic entry into an exclusive drivers' programme, which included events at international Formula 1™ circuits, access to the McLaren Racing driver simulator, and their own team of race technicians.

EXTREME ENGINEERING

EXTREME ENGINEERING

The McLaren P1 GTR's mid-mounted V8 engine has an output of 1,000 PS (986 bhp), the large rear wing features a Formula 1™-derived Drag Reduction System (DRS), and its exhaust has a straight-cut twin-pipe design developed exclusively for this model.

No stone was left unturned in the quest for GTR greatness. The McLaren team even repositioned the P1's wing mirrors to put them closer to the eye-line of the driver and reduce aerodynamic drag. This level of meticulousness culminated in breathtaking results.
