The 1997 McLaren F1 GTR 'Longtail' was the ultimate evolution of the Le Mans-winning McLaren F1 GTR. Almost two decades on, the limited-edition McLaren 675LT followed its uncompromising ethos to create a driving experience of unique intensity. It marked the beginning of our series of road-going Longtails.
The McLaren 675LT offers striking performance. Its re-engineered M838TL V8 twin-turbocharged engine produces 675 PS (666 bhp) and 700 Nm (516 lbft), and it features a steering rack that is even faster than that of the McLaren P1. The car's unique 'crossover' exhaust system – where the left bank exhaust exits on the right side of the car, and the right bank exits on the left – provides the exact length of titanium tubing required for ultimate performance.
McLaren's weight-saving strategy on the 675LT was as radical as the car itself. McLaren's engineers even shaved 1mm off the thickness of the windscreen in their quest for lightness.
The resulting lightest dry weight of 1,230 kg (2,712 lbs) gives an astonishing power-to-weight ratio of 549 PS (542 bhp) per tonne, making the McLaren 675LT lighter than any rival in its class. A true track-day powerhouse.
