CHALLENGE CUP TRIBUTE

OVERVIEW

OVERVIEW

Popularly known as 'Can-Am', the Canadian American Challenge Cup of the mid '60s and early '70s remains one of the most spectacular motorsport categories of all time. With no engine restrictions, no minimum weight, and radical aerodynamics, Can-Am was an engineer's playground, a driver's ultimate challenge and the race fan's dream come true.

Produced by McLaren Special Operations and limited to just 50 examples worldwide, the 650S Can-Am is a fitting tribute to McLaren's legendary racing cars. Its breathtaking design features a Can-Am-inspired colour scheme, unique carbon fibre bodywork, and a retractable hard top

IN BRUCE'S FOOTSTEPS

IN BRUCE’S FOOTSTEPS

When he designed the original McLaren Can-Am cars, Bruce McLaren strove to minimise weight and maximise power. Since then, the materials have changed – a lightweight carbon fibre MonoCell is key to the McLaren 650S Can-Am's exceptional performance – but the philosophy remains the same.

Weighing just 75 kg (165 lbs), the MonoCell contributes to a stunning power-to-weight ratio of 485 PS (478 bhp) per tonne, enough to accelerate the car from 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) in just three seconds. The perfect way to honour Can-Am's fearsomely fast racers.
