The McLaren 12C was developed by a world-class team of designers and engineers with hands-on Grand Prix and hypercar experience. It was the first series-production McLaren to use a one-piece carbon fibre MonoCell chassis, delivering immense strength and remarkably low weight. While it took McLaren's teams a staggering 4,000 hours to make each carbon fibre chassis on the McLaren F1, two decades later we produced the 12C's MonoCell in just four hours.
The McLaren 12C also inherited digital technology from our racing team. First introduced on the Formula 1™ championship winning MP4-13, Brake Steer technology manages traction, minimises mid-corner understeer and controls oversteer when cornering at speed. It was so effective that it was swiftly banned due to the advantage our cars gained.
Every line, surface, and detail in our first road car since the iconic McLaren F1 was designed to enhance the car's performance and the thrill of the drive. It has an acceleration of 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) in just 3.1 seconds.
It took hundreds of hours of advanced computational fluid dynamics, weeks of wind tunnel testing and an obsession with perfection to create the contours of the McLaren 12C. Technically beautiful and performance-focused, this car is an aerodynamic work of art.
